You are not too much.
You have just been in rooms that were too small for you
Our whole lives we are taught to stay quiet.
To take up as little space as possible, to sit still, to be proper, and to never interrupt.
And after a while you stop fighting it.
You make yourself smaller.
You swallow what you actually think.
You go along with things.
You stop doing the things that are good for you.
You tell yourself it's fine.
It is not fine.
Static to Signal
30 Day Art Journaling Practice
No art experience needed. You do not have to be an artist to do this.
Every time you let something slide out of fear, you feel the guilt and shame.
Every time you go against your intuition and your own knowing, you are literally making yourself sick.
I did that for years. I exhausted myself trying to keep the peace and please everyone around me. My immune system attacked me because I was already attacking myself. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder.
What got me out of it was an art journal. It became the only place I could clear the constant static of the outside world and finally tune into my own signal.
Art will fucking heal you.
My autoimmune disease is in remission, and I truly believe it is from making art every day.
It came from getting my feelings out, from sharing, and from telling myself truth.
My role in all of this is simply to be a mirror. The art journal works the exact same way.
It reflects your own truth right back to you.
When you tell yourself the truth, it feels terrifying. Your life will absolutely change. You might leave a relationship or a job. You might move across the country or go live in a tiny house by the beach. You might start your own business. You might become a better friend, a better partner, or a better artist.
You're not too tired for this. You think you are because you've spent your whole life spending energy managing everyone else's reaction instead of living your own life. Performing fine when you weren't. Holding back what you actually thought.
That's where the energy's been going. Put it on the page instead and you'll feel it come back.

I carry multiple sketchbooks because I never know when I'm going to need to open one. This isn't something I figured out years ago and moved past. This is how I stay sane right now. This is how I tune out the static and find my way back to myself.
I'm Bethanie Bright. I'm a licensed therapist, art therapist, and intuitive artist, and I've helped hundreds of people heal through art making. I watch people figure out it works even when they're convinced they're not creative, even when they've never done anything like this before. But I still need this practice myself. The credentials don't exempt me from needing the practice.
Three ways we can do this together:

Signals already coming through:
Static to Signal's Promise:
In 30 days, you will build a private container to survive your own mind.
You will know exactly what it feels like to tell yourself the unedited truth.
You will release the physical tension your body carries from keeping the peace.
You will stop flinching when someone disagrees with you.
You will hold a completed physical journal that proves you refused to abandon yourself.
Do all 30 directives. Fill the journal. If you still feel disconnected from your own voice after that, you and I get on a call until we find out why. And if we can't find it, I'll refund you. I'm not interested in taking your money for something that didn't work, but I'm also not letting you leave this still quiet without a fight.
Pay attention to the physical toll of the silence you're currently holding. Stop carrying the weight.
This isn't woo woo. Art making is backed by actual research, it regulates your nervous system, lowers anxiety and depression, and helps process trauma your body has been holding onto. But here's what that actually feels like. The anxiety drops, the trauma finally has somewhere to go, and you start feeling like yourself again.
People in your life start knowing where you actually stand instead of guessing. You stop saying you're fine when you're not. That static in the back of your head, the one you've had so long you forgot it was optional, finally goes quiet.
Talking about your feelings isn't enough anymore (or feels exhausting)
You're overwhelmed by the world, people's energy, the news, expectations, all of it
You feel disconnected from yourself and want to come home
You want a practice that's portable, affordable, and always available

FAQ
-
Absolutely not! We're learning about expression, not perfection. Process over product!
-
Whatever you have! Pen and paper. Markers. Crayons. Old magazines. Junk mail. The course includes a full supply guide, but you don't need fancy materials.
-
You probably will! Everyone does. The practice isn't about perfection, it's about showing up when you can. There will also be open studio time to catch up on anything you may have missed.
-
No. This is an educational course teaching you art journaling techniques. It's not clinical treatment. If you're in crisis or need therapeutic support, please work with a licensed professional.
-
Perfect. That's information. Some prompts will resonate, some won't. You're figuring out what works for YOU. Skip the ones that don't land. Come back to the ones that do.
